Hello Rincon families, this is Mr. White, Rincon Principal, with announcements for the coming week. Thank you to our families who were able to participate in our PTSA Chick-fil-A restaurant fundraiser this past week. This is an early announcement to mark your calendar for a PTSA Family event in the month of March. Our PTSA will be selling tickets to a San Diego Gulls hockey game to be held on Saturday, March 29th, at 6:00 p.m. More information will be forthcoming as we approach the event.
As Trimester 2 Progress Reports were mailed to families last Friday, I thank Rincon parents and guardians for continuing to partner with the Rincon staff to support our learners in achieving success at their fullest potential. The midtrimester point is a good time to monitor your students’ progress and discuss areas of strength and areas for improvement in the second half of Trimester 2. Checking your child’s grade point average is also an important step to take at this time. This is a reminder to our 8th Grade Families that EUSD policy requires 8th grade students to have a 2.0 or higher GPA at the end of Trimester 3 in order to participate in the 8th Grade Promotion ceremony. There is still plenty of time in the school year for each of our students to put forth their best effort and demonstrate their fullest level of academic achievement.
Two events are occurring for Rincon students this week. All girls and boys who are interested in participating in the upcoming XTRACK basketball season need to report to the Boys & Girls Club branch near Grape Day Park located at 115 W. Woodward Avenue for team tryouts Monday evening, January 27th. Tryouts will follow this schedule: 6th graders at 6:00 p.m., 7th graders at 7:00 p.m., and 8th graders at 8:00 p.m. The Rincon ASB will also be leading the ASB Winter Dance held in the Rincon MPR this coming Friday, January 31st, from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now for $5, and the price will increase to $10 if purchased on Thursday or Friday.
