6th graders took the learning outdoors by turning their classrooms into an archaeological "dig". These learners explored the processes and tools used by archaeologists and drew conclusions about cultures based on what they discovered in this dig.

Students explained the process of excavation and how each box represented a different era for them to identify based on their findings. The students had their archaeologist hats on as they worked together, collaborated about their findings, and created drawings of the artifacts they discovered hidden artifacts. Students were deeply engaged through the digging, sifting, brushing, identifying, and documenting the artifacts they uncovered. This excellent simulation of a dig provided students with an exciting hands-on opportunity to engage in answering, "What is culture?, and "How does archeology help us learn about the past?". The project was more than just a history lesson, it's a cross curricular project that gives students meaningful opportunities to connect learning to a real world application.

What an amazing signature 6th grade project led by Mrs. Anderson just keeps getting better.

Thank you once again for your continued support. Together, we can make this a fantastic year for our students! Together we are better in setting up our Bulldogs up to B.A.R.K (Believe, Achieve, Respect, and Kindness) for success!

With gratitude,

Principal Meglich
