Greetings Rincon Community,

As we close out another fantastic week, I am filled with excitement reflecting on the recent visit from Dr. Ibarra, our esteemed superintendent. It was a pleasure to see him engage with our incredible students as they shared their learning experiences, particularly highlighting the PUP (Peers Uniting Peers) program. Witnessing our students articulate their growth and collaboration was truly inspiring!

Dr. Ibarra wrapped up his visit at the PTSA-hosted book fair, where he found some wonderful selections for his retirement reading. Supporting literacy and fostering a love for reading is a cornerstone of our community, and events like this truly showcase our commitment to our students' development.

Looking ahead, we are gearing up for state testing starting next week. I am thrilled to introduce a new student-centered testing structure, beginning on Monday, along with a block schedule that will continue until the end of May. This approach allows us to create a more focused and supportive environment for our students during testing.

In addition, we will begin elective selection for our 6th and 7th grade students next week! Our personalized pathways are designed to be driven by the choice and voice of our students, and I am excited about the robust elective options available to them. Please take a moment to discuss these choices with your child and support them in making their selections.

Home Test Taking Tips

To help our students perform their best during testing, here are some test-taking tips and strategies for families to use at home:

  1. Establish a Study Routine: Encourage your child to set aside regular study times, allowing them to review their material in manageable sessions.

  2. Practice Mindfulness: Teach your child relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing or short meditation, to help them stay calm and focused.

  3. Healthy Habits: Ensure they are well-rested and eat a healthy breakfast on test days. Proper nutrition and rest can significantly impact performance.

  4. Familiarize with the Format: Review any practice tests or study guides provided by teachers to help students get comfortable with the testing format.

  5. Stay Positive: A positive mindset can do wonders! Encourage your child to approach tests as an opportunity to showcase their knowledge rather than a source of stress.

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement of our students and staff. We look forward to another great week filled with opportunity and growth!

Together, let's embrace the exciting weeks ahead and ensure a fantastic finish and. Together we are better in setting up our Bulldogs up to B.A.R.K (Believe, Achieve, Respect, and Kindness) for success!

With gratitude,

Principal Meglich
