Greetings Rincon Community,
We are absolutely thrilled to share some incredible news with you! On behalf of California PBIS, Rincon Middle School has been officially recognized for our successful implementation of PBIS at the Gold level.
This prestigious recognition reflects our school’s excellence in putting the core features of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) into practice to create a safe, welcoming, and positive learning environment.
To earn this statewide recognition, our school participated in the School-Wide PBIS Tiered Fidelity Inventory (TFI). This tool measures exactly how effectively a school puts positive behavior support into action.
Rincon Middle School Earned 97% in Tier 1 (School-Wide Expectations & Climate) and 85% in Tier 2 (Targeted Support & Small Group Programs). Passing the 70% benchmark means a school consistently uses these positive strategies every day.
WE'RE NOT STOPPING HERE! While we celebrate our Gold award today, we are already planning for this school year. Rincon Middle School plans to reapply for California PBIS recognition, and our goal is to bring home the Platinum level!
To help us get there and continue improving our TFI scores, our PBIS team and staff are focusing on the following key goals this year.

What a week it has been! We navigated a short week that arrived with soaring temperatures over 100 degrees, but our students persevered, and we are looking forward to some relief. Despite the heat, we are thrilled to report that our students are thriving! They are coming to school ready to learn, fully engaged, and actively demonstrating our BARK principles.
This success is a testament to the strong support from our families and community. Your commitment to high expectations, consistent practices, and focus on routines has empowered our students to rise to the occasion. You serve as role models for our learners, and this achievement is made possible through our collective efforts.
8th Grade Palomar Hospital Fieldwork
This week our 8th graders took part in the Middle School MD program at Palomar Hospital, a hands-on fieldwork experience that connects our learners to medical professionals and gives a real glimpse into healthcare careers. Thank you to the Palomar team and staff for inspiring the next generation of healthcare heroes!
September 11th, Patriot Day
On Friday, our art students created a moving pop-up display honoring the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Through thoughtful research, discussion, and creative expression they reflected on the lives lost, the courage shown, and the lasting impact on our community. A heartfelt thank you to the families who helped set up the exhibit—your support made this space of remembrance and learning possible.
Student Advisory Council / SAC
I am excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for the Student Advisory Council/SAC! This is a fantastic opportunity for student leaders to have a voice in our school community, share your ideas, and work collaboratively with your peers and site administration to make positive changes.
The Student Advisory Council will meet regularly to discuss important topics, provide feedback on school initiatives, and help shape the direction of our school. Student's insights and perspectives are invaluable, and we want to hear from you!
